1. The Clique by Lisi Harrison (pages 1-51)
2. The main idea of The Clique so far is about a new girl Claire coming to a new town and tryign to fit in with the popular girls that she has met, and one in which she is staying with.
3. One major detail of the story so far is that the Lyon's family is staying with Massie Block's family in their guest house. Another major detail is that Massie will not give Claire a chance to be her friend at their school.
4. One minor detail is that happened is that Claire got to know Massie a little bit by talking when they came over for dinner, and another minor detail is that Massie butler gives all of her friends ride's to school everyday.
5. I chose to read this book because I've had the book for quite awhile now. I also know that this book has a series and this is the first book in the series. I know that it is a popular series of book and i figured if i liked it I might go buy more of the books. Plus it's always been a book that I have wanted to read, but I never got the chance too.
6. The story starts out at rich girl Massie's house and her finding out that her Labor Day weekend plans have been ruined. Her father William's friend from college is coming to live in their guest home with his family because the are moving to Westchester, New York, and they can't afford a house right now. The Lyon's family is moving from Orlando, Florida, and they are coming over Labor Day weekend just before school starts. Massie had plans with her best friends to have a shopping spree and spa day weekend. The plans got ruined because of the Lyon's coming and Massie pretended that she was sick. She didn't tell her friends the truth because she didn't know what they would think. The Lyon's have a daughter named Claire, who is the same age and grade as Massie. Massie's parents expect her to be friends with Claire. Massie will not let that happen because Claire's family is not made of money like her and her friends are. Their school is a private school with a no dress code policy because they believe that fashion is a way of their expression and they will keep themselves well groomed. Claire is finding it hard to fit in because she is wearing overalls and Ked's brand shoes. She doesn't have nearly as fancy of clothing as Massie, and she certainly doesn't have the name brand designers either. Claire attends the same school as Massie called Octavian Country Day School or OCD for short. Massie's personal driver takes her and Claire to pick up Massie's friends, Alicia, Kristen, and Dylan for school. Massie's friends don't even notice Claire in the back seat at first. When they finally do, they quickly decide that they do not like Claire. Massie and her friends are considered some of the most glamorous people at OCDS since they all wear designer clothes. Claire is trying to fit in and is not accepted in by the girls, so Massie is told by her personal driver to be nice to Claire. Massie tells her the way about the school and leaves Claire to be with her close knit group of friends to socialize on their first day at school.
7. I like the story so far. It is neat to see how people can react to a new person. I believe that this is the way that society works though. The "rich or more privilaged" tend to ignore and look down upon the normal working class of people. Even though they are not considered poor, most "rich" people tend to think that they are better than everyone. In Massie's case this is exactly what she is doing. She isn't even giving Claire a chance. She based her first impression off of her clothing and the fact that her family has money, and Claire's doesn't or not as well off as Massie's family anyways. I would reccomend this book to someone as of now because so far I think it's really good.

1. Blister by Susan Shreve
2. The main idea of this selection is about a girl, Blister, and her struggles with her family life and school.
3. Two major details are that Blister's dad Jack called wanting the clothes that she had stolen back, and another major detail is that Blister's mom ran away.
4. Two minor details are that Blister didn't make the cheerleading squad, and another major detail is that blister was mad at her father Jack, for breaking up their family.
5. In the past blogs.
6. The chapter started off with Blister's mom, Mary telling her that Jack called and needed to talk to Blister as soon as possible. Blister didn't call because she was afraid she'd get in trouble and she didn't know what to say to her dad about stealing Tamara's clothes. He called and said that he knew that she had stolen Tamara's clothing. He wanted Blister to return them. She said she wouldn't so her father told her that he was coming to their apartment to pick them all up. Blister put the clothing in a paper bag for her dad to pick up. Her mom got ready and looked all nice for when Jack was coming over. When he finally got there, Mary and Jack got into a fight about their daughter. Blister was afraid of what her father would do, so she locked herself into her room. A neighbor called their apartment and complained about the noise, so Jack left. Then Mary was depressed and crying because she knew that their marriage was officially over. Then at school Blister got called to the principle's office and told that her father was coming to school to speak with her. Blister stayed in the bathroom at school and skipped the class that she got excused from to meet with her dad. She then went to her next class and the teacher stopped her and told her that her father was going to be picking her up after school, after cheer tryouts. Blister went to her cheerleading tryouts, and she was the best person trying out. She left school, after she didn't see her dad to pick her up. She walked home in the rain where her grandma, Daisy G picked her up since her dad never came. She told Blister that Mary was missing and wasn't at home. Jack, Daisy G, and Blister went searching until dark for Mary. They then left Jack because it was getting so late. Then Daisy G got a phone call saying someone had seen Mary. They found her at Daisy G's apartment. She had been crying, and Blister then snapped on her mom. She told her mom that she needed to get over the crying, and be back to her normal self before Jack left. She realized Blister was right, and Daisy G and Mary stayed up all night talking. Blister went to bed to get her rest to get the results tomorrow at school for the cheer squad. At the assembly, Blister did not make the cheer team. She did end up making friends because of it though, and her mom and grandma were there watching to see if she made the team. They all then went out for ice cream, and Mary was back to her normal self. They didn't care about Jack, and they realized they could keep on living their lives without him.
7. I really liked this book. It was a situation in which I had never read about before. I thought that it had a lot of drama in it, but it was something that kept me reading the book. I liked learning about how a family could cope with a situation like the one that happened. I would recommend this book to someone, for sure! I thought it would be especially good for someone who might be dealing with some of the same issues as Blister was. It would be good for a person to see that it is not always their fault, and that sometimes things don't work out. In the end though, they will be a stronger person because of it. I thought that this book would be good for younger people who could be dealign with some of the same problems. I would also just recommend that people read it because it was a good book. I like reading about things that are different, and this was a book like that. It was very good and I would tell someone to read it! I would read another book similar to this, and possibly read more book from the same author if they were similar to this one.

1. Continued book....."Blister" by Susan Shreve
2. The main idea of the book is about Alyssa Reed, now named Blister and her life and the issues that she faces now.
3. A major deatail from the readings this week was that Blister finally visited her father in his new apartment. Another major detail is that Blister found a suitcase under her father's bed that wasn't his, it was a woman's.
4. A minor detail is that Blister went to a girls house to practice for cheerleading to try out for the team. Another minor detail that happened was that Blister and her father Jack tried to spend quality time together by hanging out.
5. answer on the last blog entry
6. The reading from the book this week was interesting. Blister had finally gone to visit her father in his new apartment. This had only been the second time in which she'd seen him since he moved out. His reason for moving out was "Blister's mother, his wife was unbearable". Blister was starting to realize that her father kept making promises to her that he could not keep. He forgot her birthday, and his wallet when they went to dinner. He forgot not only big things, but little things. He rarely ever returned Blister's phone calls when she called her dad. Her father left the apartment to go get their laundry, and breakfast for them. Blister couldn't believe that her father was not with someone yet, so she started snooping around. She looked all over for clues. She saw a blue canvas bag under her father's bed, and she went through it. It was filled with woman's clothing and accessories. It had makeup and other such things in it that Blister knew then her father had a girlfriend. She looked in the pocket of the clother and found a note to this person that was from her father. It was a note to his girlfriend that he had left her in her pocket. Her name was Tamara. Also, Blister realized that the apartment was clean, unlike when he lived at home with her and his wife. It had nice things like flowers, rugs, and pictures on the walls. Also he had all new towels, and dishware. Blister knew that something was wrong, and different. Blister took the clothes that were Tamara's because they fit her and she wanted them. She thought this girls clothes would make her popular at school. Her father would forget to call her, so she decided that she wanted to move in with him. He said that it would not be a good idea. He said that Blister's mom "needed" her since her depression wasn't quite all the way better yet. She went on a bike ride with her father through the town and saw some girls from her school. She had lied to her dad telling him that she had tons of friends at school. She really had none at all so far. Blister had gone home from her dad's weekend with her. Her mother Mary, asked about Jack. Mary always wanted to know if Jack had a girlfriend yet. Blister always said she didnt know. This time she knew though, that her father did. She called Bylynda and asked her about cheerleading practice. Bylynda was having a private practice since tryouts were the next day. Blister went and was very good at the practice. The girls started to like her more than they did at first. Blister was starting to tell lies to try to make her life better, so that she could be accepted by the girls. The selection I read ended with, Blister thinking about making the cheer team when she goes to try out. She is worried that there is still a possibility she could not make the team even though she is good.
7. I would still reccommend this book to someone. It is getting more interesting, and it could help someone who is going through the same situation as Blister is. Blister isn't able to fit in yet at her new school. She is trying to lie, or just not tell the whole truth about her life. She is putting on a front to everyone, maybe even herself. She might not want to be living the life that her reality is. She is putting up a front, and trying to act like nothing is bothering her at all. Someone who is in this same situation could benefit from this book. Blister tries to make a new name for herself, and a new life. A life that she can be proud to tell people about, instead of telling them about her hurt and what is actually going on in her life.

Post 1

1. "Blister" by Susan Shreve (first 4 chapters  to page 53)
2. The main idea of the selection so far is about the main character Alyssa Reed and her struggle with her family issues.
3. Two major details are that Alyssa's mom had a baby that was born dead. Another major detail is that her father decides to move out after Alyssa's mom Mary goes through a depression and isn't back to her normal self.
4. A minor detail is that Alyssa moves to their family farm to an apartment to the city with her family because her dad decided it would be best. Another minor detail is that Alyssa changes her name to "Blister" because of her father's betrayal.
5. I chose this book to read because I've had if forever and I've never had time to read it. I figured that it would be a good book so I decided to read it.
6. Alyssa's mother Mary Reed goes to the hospital in the beginning of the book because she is going into labor. Her husband Jack Reed is taking her to the hospital in the middle of the night. Daisy G is Alyssa's grandmother. Daisy G was at the house with Alyssa when they got a phone call. It was Jack, and he was calling saying the the baby was named Lila Rose. It was not good news he was saying because the baby had been born dead because the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. The reason the parents took the loss harder than normal was because their marriage was starting to have troubles. Daisy G said that Alyssa's parents hoped that the new baby would bring them closer and save their marriage. Jack Reed would stay out later than the bowling alley that he owned was open. While Mary Reed stayed home sleeping and becoming more and more depressed over the loss of her child. Her mom Daisy G stayed home cooking meals for them and taking care of the family. Finally one day Alyssa was on the phone with a friend and her mom was downstairs and had a mental breakdown. Mary was put into the hospital for two week, and not allowed to see or talk to anyone. Alyssa's father Jack decided to buy an apartment in the city closer to his work and the hospital. They moved in and Alyssa had to go to a new school. When one night her father didnt come home until after midnight and she stayed up and waited for him. Her father said that he could no longer handle it and decided that it was best for the family if he moved out into another apartment. Alyssa was furious and hurt by what he had said because she was forced to leave the house she love along with all of her friends. It was her father's idea to move in the first place. She was a different girl now, full of hurt and betrayal. At her new school she wanted a new life. Her name was no longer Alyssa Reed but, she changed it to Blister. She met some new girls at her school, and decided that she might try out for cheerleading. She wanted to make a new name and life for herself so that she could fit in again and not be an outcast.
7. My opinion of the book so far is that it has alot of drama. The book is about a girl's struggle with her life. The book is good because I think that alot of people go through things like this and they might be able to relate to this same situation. I think that not everyone know what this could be like. I personally don't, but someone that was going through the same situation as Blister could relate to it. It has the father leaving the family in the book and sometimes that happens. Someone who was going through a situation could relate to this book and it might be able to help them. They would be able to realize that it's okay for things to happen and it's not their fault and they can move on. I would reccomend this book to someone who might be going through a tough time, or a similar situation as Blister is going through. So far, the book would help the person to relate and try to begin to move on.
