1. Continued book....."Blister" by Susan Shreve
2. The main idea of the book is about Alyssa Reed, now named Blister and her life and the issues that she faces now.
3. A major deatail from the readings this week was that Blister finally visited her father in his new apartment. Another major detail is that Blister found a suitcase under her father's bed that wasn't his, it was a woman's.
4. A minor detail is that Blister went to a girls house to practice for cheerleading to try out for the team. Another minor detail that happened was that Blister and her father Jack tried to spend quality time together by hanging out.
5. answer on the last blog entry
6. The reading from the book this week was interesting. Blister had finally gone to visit her father in his new apartment. This had only been the second time in which she'd seen him since he moved out. His reason for moving out was "Blister's mother, his wife was unbearable". Blister was starting to realize that her father kept making promises to her that he could not keep. He forgot her birthday, and his wallet when they went to dinner. He forgot not only big things, but little things. He rarely ever returned Blister's phone calls when she called her dad. Her father left the apartment to go get their laundry, and breakfast for them. Blister couldn't believe that her father was not with someone yet, so she started snooping around. She looked all over for clues. She saw a blue canvas bag under her father's bed, and she went through it. It was filled with woman's clothing and accessories. It had makeup and other such things in it that Blister knew then her father had a girlfriend. She looked in the pocket of the clother and found a note to this person that was from her father. It was a note to his girlfriend that he had left her in her pocket. Her name was Tamara. Also, Blister realized that the apartment was clean, unlike when he lived at home with her and his wife. It had nice things like flowers, rugs, and pictures on the walls. Also he had all new towels, and dishware. Blister knew that something was wrong, and different. Blister took the clothes that were Tamara's because they fit her and she wanted them. She thought this girls clothes would make her popular at school. Her father would forget to call her, so she decided that she wanted to move in with him. He said that it would not be a good idea. He said that Blister's mom "needed" her since her depression wasn't quite all the way better yet. She went on a bike ride with her father through the town and saw some girls from her school. She had lied to her dad telling him that she had tons of friends at school. She really had none at all so far. Blister had gone home from her dad's weekend with her. Her mother Mary, asked about Jack. Mary always wanted to know if Jack had a girlfriend yet. Blister always said she didnt know. This time she knew though, that her father did. She called Bylynda and asked her about cheerleading practice. Bylynda was having a private practice since tryouts were the next day. Blister went and was very good at the practice. The girls started to like her more than they did at first. Blister was starting to tell lies to try to make her life better, so that she could be accepted by the girls. The selection I read ended with, Blister thinking about making the cheer team when she goes to try out. She is worried that there is still a possibility she could not make the team even though she is good.
7. I would still reccommend this book to someone. It is getting more interesting, and it could help someone who is going through the same situation as Blister is. Blister isn't able to fit in yet at her new school. She is trying to lie, or just not tell the whole truth about her life. She is putting on a front to everyone, maybe even herself. She might not want to be living the life that her reality is. She is putting up a front, and trying to act like nothing is bothering her at all. Someone who is in this same situation could benefit from this book. Blister tries to make a new name for herself, and a new life. A life that she can be proud to tell people about, instead of telling them about her hurt and what is actually going on in her life.

  1. The girlfriend must be fairly young if Blister wants to wear her clothes! I find it odd that she wants to join the cheer team.
